Ok! I have been postponing this post for at least a year. It was one of those moments where you kept telling yourself, “Tomorrow lah. I will do it tomorrow.” A year later, you realized that you have missed out on more than 365 days of tomorrow.
The word “tomorrow” can be a little dangerous.
The first time I went for overnight weekend trip with only the boys was to Johor. We stayed at Kluang for a day, then dropped by Johor Bahru & Singapore for a day trip.
I kind of miss how
baller free we were back then. We had minimum responsibility and we were young and full of vigor. To stay up late and then wake up early the next day was easy. Now we are just a bunch of people working under others and complaint about how our youth are running away from us….Or is it just me?
We went for this famous Skudai Braised Duck at Jalan Emas Putih Dua place called, if memory serves me right, “Skudai Duck Mee“. Other than the compulsory braised duck, we ordered tofu and innards as well. Since I grew up eating bak kut teh with the works, to a certain extent, I am obviously completely comfortable with eating innards. In fact, I think I had most of the intestines in the plate shown in the picture above. I recalled that the boys were less keen about this. Leon tried but Edmund avoided it completely.
The duck meat came soaked with the mildly savory braising sauce which gave it a slightly sweet taste. I do kind of enjoy it and ate quite a bit. The intestines? Well, I ate like half of it, so I can say it was good. It was very intestine-y without the disgusting unclean taste that you can get from some place ( yikes! ). The tofu was ok, nothing spectacular about.
Since it has been a while, I cannot remember the exact price of the food. Sorry about that.
Would I go back? Yes.
